People often think an Irish pub is defined by dark timber, Guinness signs or traditional music. Those things certainly help create the atmosphere, but they're not what make an Irish pub feel authentic. In Ireland, a pub has always been far more than somewhere to eat and drink. It's part of the community. It's where neighbours meet after work, families celebrate milestones, visitors are welcomed like locals, and conversations often become the highlight of the evening. At its heart, an Irish pub is a place where people come together.
Hospitality Before Everything Else
There is a beautiful Irish phrase: Céad Míle Fáilte, a hundred thousand welcomes.
To us, it perfectly captures what Irish hospitality should feel like. Not formal or over-polished, but genuine. Warm without being intrusive. Friendly without trying too hard.
It's the feeling that someone is pleased you've walked through the door.
That has very little to do with décor, and everything to do with the people creating the experience.
Tradition Shouldn't Stand Still
When we opened an Irish bar in Ho Chi Minh City, we never wanted to recreate Dublin brick for brick.
Saigon has its own personality, climate and culture, and we believe an authentic Irish pub should embrace that rather than ignore it.
The traditions we hope to bring are the ones that matter most: genuine hospitality, good conversation, quality food and drink, and a place where people enjoy spending time together.
The ingredients may be local, the pace a little faster and the evenings a little warmer, but the spirit can remain unmistakably Irish.
More Than Food, Drinks or Music
Ask anyone about their favourite pub and they'll rarely begin by talking about the menu.
They'll remember who they were with. The musician who had the whole room singing. The conversation that lasted longer than expected. The bartender who remembered their usual order. The laughter that seemed to spread from one table to the next.
The food, the drinks and the music all play their part, but they're there to bring people together, not compete for attention.
That's what we believe an Irish pub has always done best.
